Robert D. Putnam

Robert D. Putnam is the Peter and Isabel Malkin Professor of Public Policy at Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government and a visiting professor at University of Manchester (UK). His most recent book, American Grace, co-authored with David Campbell, focuses on the role of religion in American public life and is the winner of the American Political Science Association’s 2011 Woodrow Wilson Foundation Award for best book on government, politics, or international affairs. Putnam is a member of the National Academy of Sciences, the British Academy, the American Philosophical Society, and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He is a past president of the American Political Science Association. Putnam won the Johan Skytte Prize in Political Science in 2006 and has served as an adviser to presidents and national leaders around the world. He has written a dozen books, including Bowling Alone and Making Democracy Work. @americangrace
