Debra Lee

Debra L. Lee is chairman and CEO of BET Networks, a unit of Viacom Inc., the leading provider of entertainment for the African American audience and consumers of black culture globally. Lee has led the company’s successful reinvigorated brand and programming vision that has created hits such as “Let’s Stay Together,” “The Game on BET,” and many more. She first joined BET as vice president and general counsel in 1986 after serving as an attorney and before that a law clerk in the US District Court for the District of Columbia. Lee serves on the boards of Revlon, Marriott, and Washington Gas & Light. Named one of Hollywood Reporter’s 100 Most Powerful Women in Entertainment, Lee is also a member of boards for Brown University, Paley Center for Media, the Ad Council, and the Grammy Foundation. She was appointed by the White House to the President’s Management Advisory Board.
